Our journey begins at Marof in Kočevje, which is also the starting point of the Rožni studenec forest educational trail. The trail leads through the forest, which offers many informational and numerous descriptive signs to enrich our walk. With the help of a licensed tourist guide for the Kočevje destination area, we learn about the characteristics of the Kočevje destination, perhaps even see wild animals, and in the company of a representative of the Smrekomaz team, we get to know various types of conifers, as well as deciduous trees. In addition to the beauty of wood, we also listen to the sound of wood and feel its weight. Embraced by the forest, we listen to the treetops and set off on a hunt for spruce resin. We conclude the spruce resin hunt with a practical demonstration of making Kočevje spruce ointment according to a traditional recipe using ingredients from a home kitchen, which we then fill into a convenient small glass jar.
